Meet Mija, a young girl who risks everything to prevent a powerful, multi-national company from kidnapping her best friend – a massive animal named Okja.

The world is 7 billion strong and can’t keep up with how much meat we eat. So, a corporate company start genetically creating their own animals. These unique creatures are grown and eventually sold back where they are turned into what they were made to be – food.

Ojka is one of those animals, and her best friend Mija is not going to let her go easily. What follows is an emotional story of friendship that mixes humour, action, fantasy & science fiction, whilst hitting hard with the big fact that Okja is no different to the cow, sheep or pig we slaughter daily.

Netflix are really upping the anti with their original movies, and this is a ‘next step’ in what they have to offer (Tilda Swinton & Jake Gyllenhaal are especially great). Heart warming and funny, just remember the tissues.
